Fernando Alonso warned that Aston Martin’s problems in the 2026 Formula 1 season should take “a few months” to be resolved. Despite investments in a new factory, wind tunnel and the hiring of designer Adrian Newey, the team started the championship in last place. Tests and the first three stages showed severe vibrations in the car, which limited track time and even put the drivers at risk of neurological damage.

In China, Alonso even drove with his hands off the steering wheel on the straights to relieve G-forces. Regarding the improvement in reliability in recent races, he said: “Yes. We managed to run without many problems in the last two weekends, but in terms of performance, we are far behind. We try to stay united and give time for both factories to resolve the situation.”
Alonso reinforced that significant changes to the car are not immediate. “They are working at full speed. There are some improvements, some ideas. But in Formula 1, things don’t happen overnight.”

Even with the challenges, the driver highlighted the potential of the car and the engine: “There is enormous potential in the car and also in the engine. We have evolved since Bahrain in energy management and drivability, but we still need to resolve the vibrations and the power deficiency.”
Alonso concluded that patience will be essential while the factory delivers updates, and the team continues to compete with a car that is still far from the front.
