Dan Towriss brought a very important confirmation for the future of Formula 1. The Cadillac CEO announced that the General Motors engine is scheduled to arrive on the grid in the 2029 season.

The executive explained how the GM power unit team is currently operating, with the United States team joining the field as a Ferrari customer. Towriss acknowledged that the manufacturer’s first engine may have a short lifespan if the regulations change in 2031, but he wants it in the Cadillac cars as soon as possible.
“So, the project is ahead of schedule, actually,” he revealed in an interview with PlanetF1.

“At the moment, the forecast is that the Cadillac power unit will be ready to compete in 2029. There are also some regulations in development for power units, so we are following everything closely. But, in terms of current regulations, we are on schedule to have a power unit ready for 2029,” he added.
