The two-time Spanish champion is now 44 years old and has a contract valid until the end of the season, but he is not yet thinking about leaving the grid. “Leaving the sport with a bitter taste is not always the best thing,” he said.
“These things, you don’t choose when to stop racing – only [Nico] Rosberg did that. Otherwise, it’s hard to choose. I am very calm and very happy with my career. I am very happy with what I have been able to live and experience, and with what the sport has given me,” he added.
