Cadillac ended the free practice day of the Belgian Grand Prix of Formula 1 optimistic. Both Sergio Pérez and Valtteri Bottas spoke of good sessions and a productive day overall.

This was the North American team’s debut at the traditional Spa-Francorchamps circuit. The Mexican completed 44 laps over the two sessions, finishing the day in 20th place on the final standings.
“It’s great to be back at Spa, although the lap feels very different with this new generation of cars. We had a solid day today, testing tire compounds and different fuel loads, despite activities being interrupted by flags in both sessions. We have work to do to get the balance and energy management right throughout the lap, but we will review that tonight to improve aiming for tomorrow’s qualifying,” said Checo.

Meanwhile, the Finn completed 40 laps between the sessions and his best position was in FP2, finishing 18th. “It was a positive and productive day overall. We completed all the planned setup work, carried out several valuable tests, and had no issues with the car, which allowed us to make the most of track time,” he said.
“It also seems that we are a bit closer to the midfield pack here, which is encouraging. There is still a lot to analyze overnight, but we collected good data and the focus now is to find those marginal gains that can help us take another step forward tomorrow,” he added.
