Colton Herta has once again emphasized that he expects to fight for victories in his Formula 2 debut season. The Cadillac reserve driver countered CEO Dan Towriss’s comments about maintaining more modest expectations for the 2026 season.

The competitor is making his transition from the United States to Europe this championship, leaving Indy in pursuit of the dream of reaching Formula 1. As a result, he is racing in the feeder series aiming to secure the final points for his Super License.
The American, who will represent Hitech this year, came close to joining Sauber in 2021, and after two days of testing with McLaren in 2022, he became a target of interest for AlphaTauri.

Speaking about expectations for the season, Herta said he expects to be able to fight for wins and podiums in his Formula 2 debut year. “My goal whenever I get into the race car is very simple: to be faster than everyone. We saw what they said and the goals they expect from me. But personally, it has always worked in my career to expect myself to be good. I expect to be fast and fight for wins and podiums. And that is always my goal when I get into the race car,” he said.
“So, for me, nothing has changed, but that’s what motivates me. That’s what drives me at work. And that’s what I need to do,” he added.
