“I think it comes from both sides,” said the Ferrari boss about the seven-time champion’s comeback. “We know Lewis better, and he knows the team better. We have been working on the car from the start, as he was present when we began the project, quite some time ago.”
“It is a gradual building process; there was no single decisive factor or isolated piece that changed everything — today, things are much more aligned. The car is probably also better than last year, it certainly is, and we are evolving step by step,” he added.

The start of the partnership between the seven-time F1 champion driver and the Maranello team was below expectations, with no podiums and much dissatisfaction.
However, in 2026 things have fallen into place and after nine rounds, Hamilton has already achieved a victory in Barcelona and is in third place with 147 points, 39 more than Charles Leclerc, who is fourth in the standings.
