NASCAR Brazil: Thiago Camilo secures the pole for the Velocitta stage

Update: After the completion of Saturday’s activities, NASCAR Brazil updated the official qualifying results. With the grid revision, Galid Osman moved to start from fifth position, while Thiago Camilo took the pole position for the Velocitta stage.

The NASCAR Brazil Series qualifying for the Autódromo Velocitta stage, in Mogi Guaçu (SP), was decided on the afternoon of this Saturday (27). After advancing through the two phases of time trials, Galid Osman won the Sprint Race among the six fastest and secured the pole position for the fourth stage of the 2026 season.

Q1

The first part of qualifying was composed of Murilho Rocha, Alfredinho Ibiapina, Cacá Bueno, Gabriel Casagrande, Felipe Tozzo, Vitor Genz, Denis Navarro, Jorge Martelli, Witold Ramasauskas, Galid Osman, Gustavo Bandeira, and Alex Seid.

After warming up the tires, the drivers went for the fast lap. Bandeira was first, turning 1min41s596, but was soon surpassed by Ramasauskas, who managed 1min40s010.

As the tires gained more grip, the times dropped. In the last minute, Cacá Bueno led with 1min39s201. But Casagrande improved in the final seconds and recorded 1min38s935, taking the best time of the group.

The second group went on track shortly after with Gui Backes, Thiago Camilo, Victor Andrade, Ricardo Zonta, Tito Giaffone, Firás Fahs, Arthur Gama, Tatiana Calderón, Nicolas Costa, Bruna Tomaselli, Dudes Castroneves, and Juninho Berlanda.

The initial process was the same, with drivers using the first laps to warm up the tires.

Times were high at the start, but soon Calderón took the lead with 1min39s167, with Fahs right behind recording 1min39s201.

In the last seconds of the session, Arthur Gama took first place with 1min38s797.

Qualified for Q2: Casagrande, Bueno, Genz, Bandeira, Osman, Martelli, Gama, Backes, Calderón, Costa, Fahs, and Camilo.

The cars accelerated and Casagrande took the lead with 1min39s118, but soon Backes was faster with 1min38s818. Vitor Genz came close, just 0.002 seconds behind Backes’ time.

With a few seconds left, Cacá Bueno went off track. The session continued normally with Osman setting the best time: 1min38s788.

Qualified for the Sprint: Osman, Backes, Genz, Costa, Camilo, and Casagrande.

Sprint Race
Osman was attacked by Casagrande right at the start and lost position in the first corner. But he recovered shortly after. Camilo took advantage of the battle to get closer to the two, attacking Casagrande and managing to overtake him. Behind, Costa was chased by Genz and Backes was close.

The battle between Camilo and Casagrande became tighter and both managed to get closer to Osman on the last lap, but the driver of car #99 held the pressure and secured the victory. However, after review by the stewards, the driver was penalized and the pole position went to Thiago Camilo.
