Formula 1 saw a twist in the Monaco GP results after the FIA accepted Alpine’s request for review. With the decision, Pierre Gasly recovered the third place achieved on track and officially returns to the podium of the race held in the Principality.

Gasly had finished the race in third, but received two five-second penalties for speeding in the pit lane. The French team immediately contested the penalty, claiming to have evidence that the driver remained below the 60 km/h limit throughout the entire course and even maintained a safety margin in relation to the established limit.
During the hearing held on Thursday, FOM, responsible for official Formula 1 timing, recognized that there was an error in the measurement used to calculate speeds in the pit lane. It was found that the measurement point located at the pit entry was 77 centimeters shorter than expected, which ended up generating average speeds higher than the real ones.

The FIA confirmed that the problem specifically affected the sector where six drivers had been flagged for speeding. With the confirmation of the technical fault, the stewards decided to annul the penalties applied to Gasly and reinstate his original position in the race classification.
In the official document, the stewards recognized that other competitors were also harmed by the penalties. However, they highlighted that some drivers served or attempted to serve the sanctions during the race and that, without a formal request for review, there is no regulatory mechanism to undo penalties already served. With the change in the final result, Gasly reclaims third place in the Monaco GP, while Isack Hadjar, from Red Bull, loses the podium and now ranks fourth in the event.
