Lewis Hamilton left the first day of Monaco GP activities satisfied with Ferrari’s performance, but aware that the team still needs to find more performance for qualifying. After leading Friday’s (5) time sheet with a 1min13s026 lap in FP2, the Briton highlighted the positive feeling he had behind the wheel of the SF-26 from the first moments on the most traditional track on the Formula 1 calendar:

“It was a positive day overall and the car felt very good from the first laps,” Hamilton stated. “The team did a solid job with the changes we made between the two sessions and we were able to execute our program without major problems,” he said.
Even finishing Friday at the top of the standings, Hamilton believes that the challenges of the Monegasque circuit still require important adjustments to the car. According to him, finding the ideal balance remains one of the most difficult tasks on a track surrounded by barriers and full of bumps: “Monaco is always a very different challenge, with the bumps and the proximity of the barriers, so it’s not easy to find the right balance and put everything together.”

“There is still performance to be found and tonight we will focus on the details, because the margins here are very small and there is a lot of work to do before qualifying,” concluded the seven-time champion.
