Red Bull does not have a very quiet weekend ahead at the Monaco Grand Prix of Formula 1, with Jolyon Palmer seeing only one ‘lifeline’ for the Austrian team in the Principality.

At the Canadian GP, the multi-champion team showed another step towards recovery with Max Verstappen’s first podium in 2026. But even after the result, the four-time world champion complained again about the championship rules.
Now, arriving at the streets of Monte Carlo, Red Bull is not expected to be in the fight for victory, and Palmer believes there is only one good area for the team. “The only lifeline I saw for Red Bull was the change they made between the Sprint race and qualifying, when they found a good improvement in the car’s compliance,” he said on the F1 Nation podcast.

“Analyzing the sector times, Max and Isack [Hadjar] were very fast in the first sector, so that is the only hope I can see for them. Maybe they found something there that brought them a little closer to the front teams,” he continued.
“We will only know when the cars hit the track, and they need to start [the Monaco weekend] better than they have recently,” he added.
