Formula 1 is expected to face challenging conditions this Sunday at the 2026 Canadian GP. The latest forecast indicates a 90% chance of rain in Montreal at race time at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

Besides the wet track, teams and drivers will also have to deal with strong winds during the race. According to the weather update released at 07:45 local time this Sunday, gusts may reach 50 km/h throughout the day.
A large area of rain passed over Montreal during the morning, but gradual improvement in conditions is expected by the start. Even so, the forecast still indicates enough rain to have a significant impact on the race, scheduled to start at 16:00 local time, 17:00 in Brasília.

The wind is expected to blow from west to east, crossing the main straight of the circuit from right to left. This scenario may further increase the difficulty for drivers in braking and quick direction changes throughout the race.
Pirelli has already advised teams to consider using extreme wet tires. The manufacturer highlighted that the low temperatures, between 10 and 13 degrees Celsius, combined with the characteristics of the Canadian track, with few high-speed corners to generate tire temperature, make it difficult to achieve optimal warming of the intermediate compounds.
