Gabriel Bortoleto will start from 13th place at the Canadian GP of Formula 1. In the qualifying held this Saturday (23), the Audi driver did not manage to advance from Q2 and will start from the seventh row in Montreal.

In comparison, the Brazilian had secured 12th place on the grid for the weekend’s Sprint race. Nico Hülkenberg, his teammate, will start 11th, also not making it to Q3.
The start of the Canadian GP of Formula 1 takes place on Sunday, 24th, at 5 pm Brasília time.
Q1
For this session, the weather was still quite overcast and the temperature remained cool with the thermometer reading 21ºC, while the asphalt reached 31ºC. Humidity was around 24%.
As qualifying began and the pits opened, Bortoleto followed a series of competitors for the initial installation laps before starting his flying lap. In this first part of the timed session, he was using soft tires, as were all the competitors who had already gone out.
After the first attempts, the Audi Brazilian was in tenth position, 1.766 seconds behind Lando Norris, the fastest at the moment. However, more drivers completed fast laps and the competitor dropped down the order.
With just over 7 minutes remaining in Q1, Bortoleto was in 16th place, on the edge of the cut-off zone. At this moment, he was in the pits – Nico Hülkenberg, his teammate, was in 18th.

After returning to the track, the driver of car #5 completed another attempt but was not very competitive, finishing only 16th with a time of 1min14.880 – below the Brazilian were names like Esteban Ocon and his own teammate.
It was on his last attempt that Gabriel managed to secure 16th place and, with that, advanced to Q2.
Q2
The clock started in Montreal and the second part of qualifying began. Bortoleto did not waste time leaving the garages and once again was on soft tires.
When he completed his first lap, the competitor managed to place himself in seventh position, but quickly began to drop, falling to tenth, but still with plenty of room to improve.
With 6 minutes to go, Gabriel was in 13th place with a time of 1min14.426, just under 0.350 seconds behind his teammate Hülkenberg, who was tenth.
Bortoleto tried to improve his time on his last lap and although he managed to turn faster, he only moved up to 13th place and thus remains in the elimination zone and stays in Q2.
