George Russell briefly commented on his battle against Kimi Antonelli during the Formula 1 Canadian GP Sprint race, where he secured victory this Saturday (23).

The Brit showed relief that both Mercedes drivers managed to survive the incident – in the early laps, the Italian tried to attack his teammate to take the lead, but ended up going off track. In the end, he was also overtaken by Lando Norris and finished third.
On the radio, the 19-year-old competitor complained a lot before taking a call from Toto Wolff. Then, when asked about the incident, Russell said, “yes, it was a nice race. I was just talking to Lando now, and it’s really very difficult to open a gap around here, but it was quite easy to follow the pace; the slipstream was very, very strong when overtaking.”

“And so, yes, it was a good battle with Kimi, and, you know, I’m glad we’re both here after the race,” he added.
