Aston Martin is going through one of the most difficult moments in its recent Formula 1 history, but Lance Stroll remains confident in the team’s future ahead of the Canadian GP. Even with the team occupying the last position in the constructors’ championship, the Canadian believes the project has the potential to reach the top of the category.

For 2026, expectations were high with the arrival of Adrian Newey, the new technological structure in Silverstone, and the exclusive power unit partnership with Honda. However, since the season opener in Melbourne, the team has faced serious performance and reliability issues with the AMR26.
One of Aston Martin’s biggest difficulties this year involves vibrations from the car’s battery, a situation that raised concerns about possible permanent nerve damage in the drivers’ hands. Only at the Miami GP did Fernando Alonso and Stroll manage to complete an entire race without physical problems related to the car.
Despite the complicated scenario, Stroll preferred to highlight the positive points of the project during preparations for his home race in Montreal this coming weekend: “We have incredibly talented people at the AMR Technology Campus, and there is huge potential with tools like the new CoreWeave AIR wind tunnel and the simulator,” said the Canadian.
The driver also reinforced his confidence in Aston Martin’s future: “We have all the elements to become a winning team, it’s just a matter of unlocking that potential. I firmly believe in this project, even though we are going through tough times right now. The future is very bright, and I want to overcome this difficult phase and be part of the journey we are building,” he said.

Stroll also stated that difficult moments serve to strengthen confidence within the team: “Complicated moments always test you, but they also show who really believes in what is being built. It’s easy to believe when results come. The real challenge is to stay committed when things get tougher and you need to solve problems together,” he added.
The Canadian also commented on the type of car he considers ideal in Formula 1 and took the opportunity to praise Adrian Newey. Stroll especially highlighted the models designed by the engineer during Sebastian Vettel’s title streak between 2010 and 2013 at Red Bull Racing.
“I like cars with strong mechanical grip in slow corners and good aerodynamic grip in fast corners. If I had to choose examples, many of the cars designed by Adrian during Sebastian Vettel’s title era were almost perfect. So, we have the right person for the job,” he concluded.
