The Hamilton family will experience a special weekend in motorsport. While Lewis Hamilton competes in the Canadian Grand Prix of Formula 1 for Ferrari, his brother Nicolas Hamilton will also be on the track, competing in the Snetterton round of the BTCC, the British Touring Car Championship.

This coincidence deeply marked Nicolas, leading the driver to post an emotional message on social media. In an old photo alongside the seven-time world champion, taken during the 2008 Spanish GP weekend, he recalled the journey they built together until arriving on the tracks in 2026.
In the post made on Instagram, Nicolas highlighted the personal significance of being able to compete on the same weekend as Lewis: “2008, Lewis pushing me in the wheelchair at the Spanish GP. 2026, both of us getting ready to get into our race cars!”, he wrote.
The Briton stated that he never imagined following this path in motorsport: “Maybe this was always Lewis’s destiny, but it certainly wasn’t the path I was supposed to take. When I get into my car, I always think of Nic in that wheelchair all those years ago and I feel very proud,” he declared.
Nicolas also explained that his motivation goes beyond the results on the track: “It doesn’t matter if I finish first or last, that’s why I race, for Nic in the wheelchair, dreaming of racing but struggling to walk,” he added.

Closing the message, he celebrated the moment lived by the two brothers in different categories this weekend: “Now, this weekend, the Hamilton brothers are racing on the same weekend! Who would have imagined that?”, he concluded.
While Lewis heads to Montreal for another Formula 1 round with Ferrari, Nicolas will compete in the BTCC round for Team VERTU at the Snetterton circuit in Norfolk. The British track even has turn 5 named in honor of the seven-time world champion.
After the first two rounds of the season, Nicolas Hamilton is in 19th position in the championship. His first points in 2026 were earned in the second race at Brands Hatch, where he finished 11th.
