The 2026 season marks 50 years since the Briton’s title with McLaren in a year marked by an exciting battle with Niki Lauda. Afterwards, Hunt stayed on the grid for three more years before retiring in 1979.
Subsequently, James was also a commentator on the BBC with Murray Walker before dying at 45. Therefore, Freddie said how he watches old Formula 1 races to hear his voice. “I still remember his voice,” he told The Telegraph.
“Sometimes I watch old Grand Prix races with him commentating, just to hear him,” he added.

Freddie also said he still gets emotional thinking about his father. “It depends on my mood. Sometimes, I talk about my dad and cry like a baby, I get very emotional. Other times, I don’t.”
