Formula E received a strong presence from Formula 1 at the Monaco ePrix, and the new GEN4 car ended up stealing the show in the paddock. Gabriel Bortoleto and Lando Norris were among the guests who closely followed the new generation of electric single-seaters, scheduled to debut in the 2026/2027 season.

The Brazilian from Audi F1 and world champion Norris were welcomed by Andretti FE, the team of Felipe Drugovich and Jake Dennis. The visit coincided precisely with Drugovich’s first podium in the category, achieved this Sunday in Monte Carlo with second place in the race.
Bortoleto highlighted the happiness of closely following his friend in Monaco. “I know several drivers and I’m rooting for Felipe and some others. But it’s great to be here in Monaco cheering for him, who has always supported my career and, finally, I was able to watch one of his races in Formula E,” he said before the grid formation.
Besides Bortoleto and Norris, names like Fernando Alonso, Carlos Sainz, Nico Hulkenberg, and Oliver Bearman were also present in the paddock. Former drivers and officials linked to Formula 1, such as David Coulthard, Mark Webber, Daniil Kvyat, Christian Horner, Susie Wolff, and Flavio Briatore, completed the delegation.

The main point of interest was the GEN4, presented in action on the streets of Monaco by Coulthard after qualifying. Norris revealed interest in testing the car in the future. “I’m planning to do some laps in a Formula E car at some point. There are always things you can learn by talking and listening to the drivers of this category,” said the McLaren driver.
Carlos Sainz also praised the equipment and the spectacle of the category. Christian Horner called the GEN4 “a real beast.” Coulthard compared the car’s acceleration to the “Star Wars hyperdrive” after driving the single-seater through the principality’s streets.
The GEN4 will still make public appearances before the official debut, including a confirmed presence at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England in July. The new car will have more than 800 hp, permanent all-wheel drive, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in about 1.8 seconds.
