Allan McNish spoke a little about taking on the role of Audi’s racing director in Formula 1 in 2026. The executive explained how motorsport is his great passion and what drives him to wake up and get out of bed every day.

The former driver took on the role alongside Mattia Binotto after the sudden and immediate departure of Jonathan Wheatley from the team leadership. McNish faced his first stage at the Miami GP, where the team suffered from some problems on the track.
But for the 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, victory is not everything in Formula 1, but rather his love and passion for motorsport and racing. “Look, I have lived to race since I was 11 years old, it’s what I love, it’s what makes me get out of bed in the morning, it’s my passion, but when I say I live to race, I don’t mean I go home happy unless we have won,” he said.

“I know it’s not always like that, because in racing, throughout the career, you lose more than you win. It’s statistics, except maybe for one or two wins. But the reality is that this environment is my life, it’s my career, it’s my hobby, it’s my passion. It’s always good to be here,” he added.
