The first three races of the calendar were a challenge for the Milton Keynes-based team, with Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar unable to place in the top 5.
However, in the United States the progress was clear and Mekies explained that Red Bull conducted a deep data analysis after the Japanese GP and used the April break to improve some points.

“After Suzuka, on Sunday night, we told each other: look, regardless of our overall performance deficit in terms of development, compared to where we were at the end of last year, regardless of that, we are not currently providing a consistent car to our drivers, a car they can drive with confidence, lap after lap, corner after corner,” he said.
“That was the main focus of the work done during these five weeks of break, besides the normal development. So, yes, there is a difference between the two, whatever the number, whatever the difference. But, of course, it was tangible. It is lap time. We knew we were losing a significant amount of lap time with this lack of confidence the drivers had in the car. Steering was one aspect. We had several other aspects as well, and we still have some to resolve,” he added.
