Max Verstappen has been drawing a lot of attention to the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. Although the race is one of the main events on the German motorsport and endurance calendar, the presence of the four-time Formula 1 world champion has caused a bit of chaos when it comes to journalists covering the event.

In 2026, everything is different at the circuit: with the Dutchman, alongside Jules Gounon, Dani Juncadella, and Lucas Auer on the grid, the level of interest in the race is huge. And not just among fans, the press center is more crowded than it has ever been.
All of this has created a huge logistical challenge. Normally, the press building at the circuit can accommodate up to 500 journalists, but between May 16 and 17, Saturday and Sunday, the days of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, there will be no less than 1200. Therefore, it will be challenging to accommodate all the accredited personnel.

Therefore, Nürburgring was not designed to host large groups of people. The drivers’ briefing, for example, was held in the press room, but the space was not cleared for it. The professionals present simply shared the space, which ended up turning into a commotion.
This was one of Verstappen’s first ‘public’ appearances during this race week, which led photographers to crowd around and surround the Dutchman for a shot. The competitor was almost trampled, and as a result, the organizers politely asked the photographers to behave better.
