Ford has confirmed that it has already held talks with four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen about a possible future participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, reinforcing the Dutchman’s interest in endurance racing.

Verstappen’s involvement with long-distance racing has increased significantly this season. The Red Bull Racing driver has intensified his participation in races at the Nurburgring circuit and is already preparing to compete in the traditional 24-hour race held on the German track.
This move comes amid a difficult moment experienced by the driver in Formula 1. The season start below Red Bull’s expectations has increased signs of dissatisfaction from the Dutchman, especially given the inconsistent performance of the RB22.
Despite the car’s difficulties, the new power unit developed internally by Red Bull in partnership with Ford has reportedly shown positive results. According to information, the engine’s performance exceeded expectations, regardless of the car’s overall performance.
While maintaining its partnership with Red Bull in Formula 1, Ford is also preparing new projects in motorsport. The American brand is working on its Hypercar program in the WEC, with former F1 driver Logan Sargeant already confirmed in the project alongside Seb Priaulx and Mike Rockenfeller.

According to information published by DailySportscar.com, Ford Racing boss Mark Rushbrook confirmed that talks about a possible partnership with Verstappen at Le Mans did indeed take place: “We would love to see that happen,” said the executive.
Rushbrook explained that there are still several factors needed to turn the idea into reality: “Many things need to align for this to happen, but it would be amazing for us and for the sport,” he added.
The executive also ruled out the possibility of Verstappen joining the brand’s program as early as 2027 but indicated that the matter remains open for the future: “Depending on the calendars, this could happen during his Formula 1 career or afterwards. These talks have been going on for more than three years. We are just looking for the right opportunity with the right programs,” he concluded.
With growing experience in endurance and an extensive list of achievements in Formula 1, Verstappen seems increasingly interested in adding historic races to his resume. And given the current scenario, the Dutchman’s participation at Le Mans no longer seems as distant as before.
