Formula 1 records a 53% increase in revenues in the first quarter of 2026

Formula 1 started 2026 with strong financial growth. Liberty Media revealed that the category had a 53% increase in revenue in the first quarter of the year, jumping from US$ 403 million to US$ 617 million between January and March.

In addition to the revenue growth, the category also reversed the operational loss recorded in the same period of 2025. Last year, F1 had accumulated losses of US$ 28 million, while now it showed an operating profit of US$ 107 million.

Part of this growth is explained by the difference in the calendar. In 2025, only the Australian and Chinese GPs had been held by the end of March. This year, the Japanese GP was also included, increasing revenues related to the hosting of events. The absence of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia GPs also changed the proportional distribution of revenues throughout the championship.

Liberty Media highlighted that the category’s main revenues grew “due to an additional race in the quarter, a higher proportion in the recognition of seasonal revenues, and increases in contractual fees.” The company also stated that gains from media rights and sponsorships increased because of calendar changes and the redistribution of revenues planned for the season.

The hospitality, logistics, and travel areas also boosted financial results. According to Liberty, there was growth in Paddock Club sales and in new premium experiences offered to fans.

Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Formula 1, said the championship is going through a positive moment. “We had an exciting start to the season, on and off the track, with more overtakes and an extremely competitive start to the year,” he said. The executive also highlighted the strengthening of commercial partnerships. “We remain focused on evolving the sport, strengthening our connection with fans globally, and working with the FIA and teams to make the product even better,” he added.
