Oscar Piastri evaluated McLaren’s update package for the Miami GP of Formula 1 and pointed out that “it will not be enough” to be able to fight with Mercedes.

The Australian believes that the gap to the German rival is still very large to be overcome with just one package of changes to the car, although he hopes that steps will be taken.
Therefore, this weekend, Piastri expects an improvement in the MCL60, but still not at Mercedes’ level at the start of Formula 1. “I hope we are faster. Obviously, that is the plan. We will have to wait and see exactly how we do. I think it is, again, a step in the right direction for us,” he said.
“It will not be enough to challenge Mercedes this weekend, I think, but we are definitely heading in the right direction,” he said.

“Obviously, we expect many other teams to also bring updates, so I hope ours are better than theirs. That is the plan. But I think the motivation and confidence in the team are high at the moment. I think we are on a good trajectory again,” he continued.
“And I think Japan was good to enter the break with a bit of confidence in showing our potential and I hope we have increased that now. So, I hope it is a good step forward,” he concluded.
