The Ferrari driver highlighted the extensive preparation in wet conditions over the past weeks, something unusual even for his long career. With storms expected on Sunday, the Briton sees the recent experience as a possible competitive advantage.
“I did two days of rain testing at Fiorano, so I hope that puts me in a good position if it rains on Sunday,” he said. Hamilton took part in wet track activities during the April break, including a test with Pirelli rain tires, as well as having already driven the SF-26 in these same conditions during pre-season in Barcelona.

Despite the optimism, the seven-time world champion avoided stronger predictions about the impact of this preparation: “I don’t know, but I definitely did more rain testing than probably at any other time,” he said, also highlighting the importance of working with Pirelli to improve tire performance, which is often criticized by drivers.
Hamilton also assessed the car’s behavior on a wet track and showed moderate confidence. According to him, the SF-26 responds well in these conditions, which could open opportunities if the rainy weather directly affects the race in Miami as expected.
