Formula 1 will introduce specific adjustments to the 2026 regulations for this Miami GP weekend. However, according to Alexander Wurz, the drivers are not yet completely satisfied with the changes.

Wurz is the president of the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association [GPDA], the association that represents the interests of the competitors. Safety remains the main concern of the grid, especially after Ollie Bearman’s accident at the Japanese GP.
The Haas driver was approaching Franco Colapinto with a quite noticeable speed difference. He then put the car on the grass, lost control, and hit the protection barrier. In response, the FIA brought debates and changes to the rule package to avoid similar ‘superclipping’ situations in upcoming races.

“We’re not there yet, but overall, the changes are a step in the right direction,” Wurz told the Austrian newspaper Krone.
Drivers know that it’s not possible to make engine changes yet in the 2026 Formula 1 season. However, some suppliers are already planning alterations for next year – for example, Red Bull supports the idea of allowing certain components to be replaced or updated.
