Oliver Bearman does not have what it takes to become a top Formula 1 driver. This is according to Luca Baldisserri, former Ferrari engineer, who praised the Briton but said he doesn’t have a high level of skill.

The Haas driver had a good start to the 2026 season, scoring 17 points in the first three rounds and appearing in seventh position in the Constructors’ Championship.
However, for the former engineer, in an interview with the Terruzzi Raccota podcast, who led the Ferrari Academy between 2010 and 2015, he pointed out at least four other drivers who currently have greater talent: Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Kimi Antonelli and Gabriel Bortoleto.

“For me, (Bearman) had some good performances, but I don’t see him as a driver with that level of skill. Bearman never really won anything,” he continued.
“He won in his first year in Formula 4, taking the Italian and German titles, but in the Italian series, his car showed irregularities two races from the end, so there are some doubts. He is a good driver, I’m not saying he’s bad,” he added.
