Damon Hill spoke again about Max Mosley on social media. The former Formula 1 driver pointed out how the former FIA president used his intelligence in the service of hatred and division – this in response to a post honoring the late man’s birthday.

The British driver’s comment came below a post made by Matt Bishop, who worked as head of communications at McLaren and Aston Martin, as well as being involved with the women’s W Series category.
On social media, Bishop wrote that “love him or hate him, you have to admit he was a fascinating man, although he could be tough and even cruel. Above all, he was frighteningly intelligent.”

In this, Hill commented that “don’t be fooled just because he could be ‘funny’. It was always at someone’s expense. I’m not sure you can call it intelligence once it is used in the service of hatred and division.”
Mosley died by suicide in May 2021 at the age of 81 after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. His time at the FIA, between 1993 and 2009, was marked by great polarization, but he helped improve Formula 1 safety after the deaths of Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna.
