Lando Norris is hoping for a Formula 1 regulation change in 2026 before the Miami GP in early May. The Brit pointed out how the new set of rules takes a lot of control out of the drivers’ hands.

The 2025 season champion has been one of the critics of the new package for this championship just like Max Verstappen. Among his opinions, he has already stated that it is ‘probably the worst car’ in F1, besides saying that what the drivers think matters little.
At Nürburgring with Oscar Piastri for Pirelli tests, Lando answered questions and once again reflected on the new Formula 1 regulations. “These cars are certainly very different from last year’s cars, and the differences are quite complex. Some of them I like, others I found a bit more difficult so far,” he said.
“This year, the cars have much less downforce and are much more on the edge. It is possible to control slides more easily, and the slightly lower grip makes the car very exciting to drive. As a car, I am enjoying driving them; they remind me of some of the cars I drove in the junior categories, and I say that as a big compliment, you really feel like you can make a difference,” he continued.

“I have said before that it is not the car I am struggling with, but the part behind us that I am not liking so much – the power unit regulations,” he continued.
“There was a situation in Japan where the battery was triggered, even though I didn’t want it, and I had to overtake Lewis because of that.
That meant I was vulnerable on the next straight, where I really wanted to use the battery. For me, that is taking too much control away from the driver, but I know that the FIA and everyone involved in the sport are looking into the situation: there has been good dialogue with the FIA on the matter, so I am confident that something will be done by the time we return to race in Miami,” he concluded.
