Mike Krack gave a reality check on Aston Martin’s current situation in Formula 1 after the team finished the Japanese GP and all the problems faced at the start of the 2026 season.

The British team has been suffering even before the start of the championship. During the shakedown in Barcelona and pre-season in Bahrain, things were already not going well, and with the first races of the year, the issues dragged on – lack of power and chassis vibrations were the main points.
In Japan, then, for the first time this year a driver from the team saw the checkered flag – Fernando Alonso finished outside the points. But despite the step forward, Krack, now in the role of trackside chief, recognized that it is no reason for celebration.

“It shouldn’t be something to celebrate. But we have to recognize that this is the situation we find ourselves in, accept it and work to get out of it. I think the credit goes to everyone, the track team, Sakura and also Silverstone, who persisted in taking these first steps. But unfortunately, as soon as you solve your reliability problems, everyone focuses only on performance,” Krack explained.
“Analyzing this, we saw that we have some important steps to take, not small steps like the ones we took now with reliability, but important steps to be taken. We have to use the break now to take the first step, but there is a big mountain to climb,” he concluded.
