Eddie Irvine showed confidence in Kimi Antonelli’s work for the Formula 1 season. The former Ferrari driver pointed to the Italian as a true title contender for 2026.

The young Italian has impressed in just his second year on the grid. Racing for Mercedes, he won two of the first three races of the year and holds the lead in the standings, also becoming the youngest to lead the championship in history.
Therefore, in the eyes of Irvine, a F1 GP winner, Antonelli has been impressive this season, although he recognizes it is still early to make any title predictions – there are still 19 races left until the end.

“Kimi is a true title contender, but it is still too early to make any predictions about how the season will end,” Irvine told Gazzetta dello Sport.
