The more than 30 days without activity in the category is due to the cancellations of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian GPs. The reason is the war in the Middle East, with attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran, affecting the entire region – and numerous other categories such as the World Endurance Championship, MotoGP and Super GT, which postponed or also cancelled stages.
So far, three races have been held in the championship: Australia, in Melbourne, China, in Shanghai, and Japan, in Suzuka. And on all three occasions, it was Mercedes who emerged triumphant in all of them, one with George Russell and two with Kimi Antonelli. Furthermore, Ferrari has started to show strength and McLaren, in the third race of the year, began to reappear with Oscar Piastri’s podium.

After the three stages, including a Sprint in China, the leader is the Mercedes Italian, who became the youngest leader in Formula 1 history. The competitor has a nine-point lead over his British teammate, with Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton appearing next.
The Miami GP, which takes place on the weekend of May 1st to 3rd, resumes the 2026 season and comes with high expectations for the championship’s return, in addition to the updates that teams will bring and the regulations will have.
