David Coulthard revealed surprise that the FIA has not taken any action regarding the situation involving Max Verstappen and The Guardian journalist during the Formula 1 Japanese GP.

In Suzuka, one of the main stories of the weekend was the Dutchman’s expulsion of Gene Richards, a British journalist, from a press conference at the Red Bull hospitality. The reason, according to the driver, was a question asked at the 2025 Abu Dhabi GP, which he understood to have been asked in a mocking tone.
So, commenting on the situation, Coulthard stated on the Up to Speed podcast that “it’s probably not something that, reflecting on the matter, Max feels good about, because, although he is absolutely right, you don’t have to answer the question.”

“It is unusual to ask someone to leave that environment. In fact, I am a little surprised that the FIA has not taken a stand on this. I haven’t seen any mention of any kind of reprimand,” he added.
