F1: Irvine says Wolff "cannot interfere" in the fight between Antonelli and Russell

Toto Wolff has received advice regarding the title fight for the 2026 Formula 1 season. Eddie Irvine commented on how the Mercedes boss cannot interfere in the battle between Kimi Antonelli and George Russell.

The German team started unbeatable in this championship and after three rounds held, took the victory in all of them. Now, the young Italian is the one holding the lead in the standings with a nine-point advantage over his British teammate.

While Antonelli has two triumphs and Russell one, the fight will still intensify until the championship decision, and Irvine expects the duo to get involved in incidents in the 2026 Formula 1 battle.

“I am 100% sure of that [that they will get involved in incidents]. The pressure is very high and the drivers have similar performances. Therefore, Toto Wolff cannot interfere with team orders,” he pointed out.

“He experienced very tense situations when Lewis Hamilton fought for position with Nico Rosberg and, later, with Max Verstappen. On this last occasion, there was a serious accident at Silverstone,” he added.
