Pedro Cardoso was the winner of Race 1 of TCR South America and TCR Brasil this Sunday morning (29), at the Zilmar Beux Autodrome, in Cascavel (PR). The driver managed tire wear well during the race, something that affected the drivers who led throughout the 20 minutes of track action. Cardoso’s victory was the first for the G Racing team in the category.

The start took place with the pack in motion, with Tiago Pernía in the lead, as Nelson Piquet Jr.’s car was unable to take to the track after the damage from Saturday’s crash. Leonel Pernía maintained second position, followed by Raphael Reis. The biggest movement was in the middle of the grid, with Fabian Yannantuoni taking 13th position from Juan Ángel Rosso.
With 15 minutes still on the clock, Enzo Gianfratti managed to overtake Camilo Trappa for eighth position, also opening up space for Diego Ciantini and Gabriel Moura to gain positions. Then, Tiago Pernía had to bring the car into the pits. As a result, Leonel Pernía took the lead of the race, with Brazilians Raphael Reis and Pedro Cardoso right behind.
Reis managed to close in on Pernía, but the overtake was made easier by Leonel entering the pits for a tire change. Reis became the new leader, with Cardoso in second and Joaquín Cafaro in third.
With less than five minutes of the race remaining, Reis’s car had a puncture. Cardoso became the leader, opening up a five-second lead over Cafaro.

On the third-to-last lap, Enzo Gianfratti and Néstor Girolami engaged in a fierce battle for third place. The Brazilian managed to dive at the end of the back straight and secure the position.
The race ended with Pedro Cardoso’s victory. Joaquín Cafaro, who finished second, also won in the Junior category. Enzo Gianfratti secured his place on the podium.
Néstor Girolami finished in fourth place, followed by Erick Schotten. Diego Ciantini was sixth, while Gabriel Moura was seventh. Camilo Trappa, Fabian Yannantuoni, and Juan Manuel Casella rounded out the top 10.
TCR continues its schedule in Cascavel with another race at 14:00.
