Flavio Briatore described Alpine’s performance at the Australian GP in Albert Park as “weak,” despite Pierre Gasly’s tenth place, which secured the team’s first point of the season. Franco Colapinto finished in 14th position, reinforcing Briatore’s view on the team’s performance.

“Not satisfied at all. The performance was very weak, and it was a combination of different factors,” said Briatore. “We know what the main problem we have with the car is and we will try to solve it as quickly as possible.”
Despite the criticism, the executive also made a point of highlighting the positive side: “It was the first race and we hadn’t scored points in a Formula 1 race for a long time. At least we have a point with Pierre and that can happen, you know, so let’s leave it at that.”

Asked about Alpine’s goals, Briatore, alongside Laurent Mekies, head of Red Bull, and Jonathan Wheatley, from Audi, explained: “The goal this year is to be ahead of him (Wheatley), if possible. Close to him (Mekies), if possible. We are looking to be in seventh, eighth, sixth… that level of competition. In other words, fighting to be ahead of everyone else.”
