Isack Hadjar finished the Sprint qualifying for the Formula 1 Chinese GP in tenth position, and assessed that his fast lap was positive, despite the performance difficulties presented by Red Bull Racing.

The young driver stated that he was satisfied with the lap he managed to complete, highlighting that the gap to his teammate Max Verstappen, who took P8, was not large, something he considered a positive point: “I can be satisfied with the lap I did, it was good. I’m not very far from Max, so that’s something positive,” he said.
Even so, Hadjar recognized that the car’s overall pace was below expectations during the session: “I’m not sure what happened with our pace or why we were about half a second behind,” he said.

According to Hadjar, the limited performance was mainly linked to a lack of grip and also the car’s power, factors that affected performance throughout the lap: “We need a little more of everything to be competitive tomorrow. We struggled with grip today and our power wasn’t where we would like it to be,” he added.
Hadjar also noted that the gap to teams like McLaren and Ferrari was larger compared to the previous weekend: “The gap to McLaren and Ferrari was larger than last weekend, so we need to understand why,” he concluded, maintaining hope that there are still many opportunities in the next two days in Shanghai.
