Karun Chandhok pointed out that the Spanish Grand Prix of Formula 1 will require much more investment if the organizers want to address the lack of overtaking points on the circuit.

Madring served as the stage for the category’s return to Madrid for the first time since the 1980s. However, in a tight design, there were few chances for position battles and after 57 laps, only four overtakes were made.
The competitors did not hold back their criticism of the layout, saying that turns 18 and 19 should be removed; Gabriel Bortoleto said he almost fell asleep, while Max Verstappen also pointed out that the braking zones made overtaking impossible.

“The race in Madrid seemed like a missed opportunity… Monaco manages to sustain itself as a race without overtaking due to its history. It seemed almost as impossible to overtake in Madrid, only at higher speeds,” Chandhok wrote on X.
“It will not be easy to make adjustments on an existing track, especially on a street circuit, but I hope they make some changes for next year. The cost and effort dedicated just to that big corner ‘La Monumental’ must have been enormous, but unfortunately, they will need to invest more now to improve the racing conditions on the rest of the layout,” he added.
