Nike is close to finalizing a deal to expand its presence in Formula 1. According to information from GPBlog, the American brand is expected to supply the uniforms worn by Formula One Management (FOM) staff during Grand Prix weekends.

The official announcement of the deal, however, is not expected before the Las Vegas GP in November. If the partnership is confirmed, Nike will have a permanent presence in the category’s central traveling operation.

Some signs of rapprochement had already appeared throughout the season. Senior company executives were present at the Miami GP in May, while the brand also began to appear in publications related to Cadillac.
Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez were photographed wearing Nike shoes, and Cadillac executives received customized Nike Dunk Low sneakers with the team’s identity during the weekend in Miami. Now, according to the information, this commercial interest has evolved into direct negotiations involving Formula 1.

The possible entry of Nike comes at a time of strong presence of other industry giants in the championship. Puma already produces official clothing with the Formula 1 brand and supplies uniforms and apparel for Ferrari, Aston Martin, and McLaren, while Mercedes has signed a multi-year collaboration with Adidas.

The deal would also represent a return of Nike to the category’s history. The brand was a partner of Michael Schumacher between 1996 and 2002, providing customized racing shoes to the seven-time world champion and launching the Air Zoom Schu model.
With the supply of clothing for FOM staff at all calendar events, and the possibility of future products aimed at fans, Nike could become a constant presence in the category’s paddock starting in 2027.
