Ugo Ugochukwu is the new Formula 3 champion. The Campos Racing driver completed the last race of the 2026 season, held early Sunday morning (13) at Madring, a circuit set up on the streets of Madrid, Spain, in second place, overtaking Freddie Slater in the final race of the year. The victory went to Tuukka Taponen, MP Motorsport driver who started from pole position and maintained the lead throughout the 19 laps of the race.

Ugochukwu stayed close to Taponen throughout the entire race, without attacking at any point. At the end of the race, the Finnish driver celebrated the victory, while the American secured the title after arriving in the Spanish capital in second place in the championship. The win also breaks a streak of three titles by Trident, which won the past championships with Gabriel Bortoleto, Leonardo Fornaroli, and Rafael Câmara.
Winner of the main race on Saturday, Pedro Clerot secured another podium by finishing third with a Rodin Motorsport car, followed by Taito Kato, fourth place driving a car prepared by ART Grand Prix. The top five group on the 5.4-kilometer circuit was completed by Mattia Colnaghi, a driver representing MP Motorsport.
Alessandro Giusti, with an MP Motorsport car, finished the race in sixth place, ahead of Enzo Deligny, seventh with Van Amersfoort. Freddie Slater, who was contesting the title with Ugochukwu, finished eighth with Trident, while Ernesto Rivera, from Campos Racing, was ninth. The top ten list also included Yevan David, with a car from AIX Racing, a team that saw Fernando Barrichello finish in 23rd position.

The race featured a Safety Car deployment on lap 17. Hiyu Yamakoshi stopped on the track with the Van Amersfoort car, which forced the race direction to neutralize the competition. The marshals quickly worked to remove the car and the race restarted for one lap, with no position changes.
The Formula 3 championship ended with Ugochukwu scoring 159 points, against 145 from Slater, who takes the runner-up spot. Taponen finished the competition in third place, accumulating 108 points. Clerot was sixth in the standings with 88 points, while Barrichello closes the season in 27th place, scoring 2 points.
