Race 2 of TCR South America this Sunday (8), in Curvelo (MG), brought a first-time winner to the category. Argentine Camilo Trappa took the lead at the start and defended well against the experienced Juan Angel Rosso and Nelson Piquet Jr. to secure the first victory for Hyundai, a team making its debut in 2026. Piquet was the winner in TCR Brazil.

With the reversal of the top-10 qualifying results, Gabriel Moura started in front, but ended up losing the position to Camilo Trappa at the start. Enrique Maglione ended up going off track and caused the first safety car of the race.
The race resumed with 25 minutes still on the clock and Trappa maintaining the first position. Moura came in second, with Celso Neto right behind. Juan Angel Rosso took Neto’s position a few moments later, followed by Nelson Piquet Jr. Then, Gabriel Moura ended up being overtaken by Rosso and Piquet.
Erick Schotten went off track, while Pedro Cardoso had problems with the car and, therefore, the safety car entered the track again.

The race restarted with ten minutes remaining. With no changes at the restart, Trappa continued in front, although under more pressure from Rosso. They even went side-by-side, but Trappa defended well.
Piquet closed in on Rosso and managed the overtake, immediately going after Trappa. However, the Argentine managed to open up a good lead in the final minutes and secured his first victory in TCR South America and the Junior class.
Piquet and Rosso completed the podium in the South American category, while Gabriel Moura and Joaquín Cafaro made the podium in Junior. In Trophy, Adrián Chiriano was the winner. In TCR Brazil, the victory went to Piquet. Celso Neto and Gabriel Moura completed the podium.
