Lando Norris changed his assessment after a tense moment with Oscar Piastri at the end of the Italian Grand Prix in Formula 1. The Briton stated that his teammate’s driving was fair, despite the complaint made over the radio during the battle.

The two were fighting for fourth position in the final laps, when Norris tried to overtake Piastri at turn 4. The British driver ended up going off onto the grass, and showed irritation over the radio by stating that he had been forced off the track.
After leaving the car at the end of the race, Norris presented a different view on the incident: “No, it’s all right. I just need to review things, but it’s just the perception of when you’re in the car, when someone is opening the gap a bit and then goes straight,” he said.

The Briton highlighted that the speed involved can alter the driver’s perception during a battle: “You have that perception when you’re at 300 km/h. So that’s it. I think what Oscar did was fair,” Norris added, dismissing the possibility of considering Piastri’s maneuver inappropriate.
Despite the initial complaint, Norris finished ahead of the Australian after overtaking him on the last lap, approaching the Ascari chicane. The Briton also acknowledged that the battle was positive overall: “In the heat of the moment, but no, on that side it was all right and it was a good battle. A good result in a tough race,” he concluded.
