Max Verstappen said he wanted to have seen a more intense battle between Kimi Antonelli and George Russell at the Formula 1 Italian GP this Sunday (6). The Dutchman revealed the expectation to the Mercedes drivers themselves while the three waited for the moment to go up to the podium after the end of the race, which was won by Antonelli, in Monza.

The conversation took place in the space reserved for the top three finishers after the race. With Antonelli still absent, Russell took the opportunity to question Verstappen about the last pit stop.
The Mercedes driver wanted to know exactly when the virtual safety car (VSC) had ended. Verstappen explained that the neutralization ended just as he was leaving the pits, after making his stop during the VSC period, as did Antonelli. Russell, on the other hand, had remained on the track.

When Antonelli arrived in the room, images of the duel between the two Mercedes drivers appeared on the screen. It was then that Verstappen took the opportunity to comment on the battle and make it clear that he expected more from the teammates: “I saw that and thought: ‘a little more, guys’,” joked the four-time Red Bull world champion.
