The 2026 Italian Grand Prix of Formula 1, which takes place this Sunday (6), ended disappointingly for Charles Leclerc. The Ferrari driver finished the race in Monza even before completing the third lap, after a heavy crash into the track’s protective barrier.

Leclerc was running at a strong pace chasing Max Verstappen’s Red Bull for third place and, at the moment he was defending against an attack from Oscar Piastri, ended up side by side with the McLaren driver and lost control of the car at the famous Parabolica corner. The car was violently launched sideways into the barrier.


The Monegasque got out of the car conscious, although visibly shaken by the impact. The red flag was deployed for the reconstruction of the protective barrier and removal of the Ferrari.

The crash happens precisely on an important weekend for the team, which honors the seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher. Furthermore, the tension between Leclerc and his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, was a topic throughout the entire F1 weekend in Italy.
