Alpine reacted to the decision that took away Pierre Gasly’s third place at the Monaco Formula 1 GP. The team stated it was disappointed and considered itself to have been ‘unfairly penalized’.

Gasly had finished the race in third, but lost positions after being penalized for speeding in the pit lane. Since the penalty was not served during the race, Alpine filed an appeal, and the FIA initially ruled in favor of the team.
However, the case was reviewed again after McLaren and Red Bull Racing contested the decision. In a hearing held in Paris on August 25, whose result was released this Friday (04), the FIA International Court of Appeal ruled that the penalties be reinstated, dropping Gasly to seventh place and putting Isack Hadjar back in P3.
In a statement, Alpine said it maintains its disagreement with the result and again defended its version of the episode: “We still fully maintain that car #10 did not exceed the pit lane speed limit at any time during the race,” the team declared.

Even with the loss in the appeal, Alpine acknowledged the decision of the judging panel: “Although the result is not what we expected, we feel we were unfairly punished,” said the team, which also assured that the episode will not affect its determination for the rest of the season.
Alpine added that it will continue focused on improving its performance and competing in the championship, highlighting that the appeal result: “Will not stop the team’s efforts and motivation to achieve its goals until the end of the year,” the statement concluded.
