Pirelli presented on Tuesday (01) the trophy that will be awarded at the Italian GP next weekend in Monza, and the unusual look quickly caught the attention of Formula 1 fans. The piece deviates significantly from the traditional standards of the category’s awards and even from motorsport.

The trophy is made up of household objects, such as cups and bowls, arranged in a structure that gives the impression of about to lose balance. The proposal, however, goes beyond the curious appearance and seeks to represent the importance of the collective effort behind a victory.
Created by artists Stella Scala and Simeone Crispino, the project was inspired by the old Italian tradition of passing a commemorative cup from one person to another. According to the authors, the idea was to symbolize an achievement that stays in the hands of a driver but also belongs to the team, the fans, and everyone involved behind the scenes.
“The concept of the trophy comes from the old tradition of passing a commemorative cup from hand to hand. It functioned as a large container for drinks, creating a feeling of shared celebration and festivity,” explained the artists.

The unstable appearance also has a specific meaning: “We wanted the trophy to be the symbol of a victory that an individual holds in their hands but that reflects the spirit of a community,” they said, adding that in Formula 1, this community involves the team, the fans, and the entire universe around the drivers.
The manufacturing process also followed a different approach. After the initial sketches, the structure was produced using 3D printing with nylon powder, before receiving painting, galvanization, and polishing. For the artists, the composition represents a victory earned lap after lap, which is temporary and must be continuously reclaimed, with this fragility being an essential part of the concept.
Now that’s a unique #F1 trophy for the #ItalianGP.
