Peter Windsor made comments about Ferrari in Formula 1 in 2026 and even questioned the Italian team’s decision to change the driver lineup and bring in Lewis Hamilton.

The Italian team is at the center of discussions after last weekend’s Dutch GP. In the race, the Briton asked Charles Leclerc to make way to pass, the request was not granted and the competitor got irritated, saying they were ‘wasting time’.
In the end, the team lost a podium chance with the seven-time champion finishing fourth and the Monegasque in fifth. And for Windsor, it is difficult for Ferrari to manage the driver duo in F1. “I always said: Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz made a very good team. Carlos was fast enough to win when he had his day and Charles faced some problem. At the same time, he would never really threaten Charles’s space. It was a perfectly balanced team,” he said.

“So, what did they do? They broke it all up and hired Lewis. I am not criticizing Lewis’s decision to go to Ferrari or anything related to that. What I say is that Ferrari did not need to do that. But when you have two big stars in the car, what do you do? It is impossible to manage that situation. That is why I have always defended Carlos Sainz’s stay,” he continued.
“You can’t manage this, because Charles has his point of view and Lewis has his. Both must be respected, obviously, and the poor engineers in the garage are not able to deal with it. The only person capable of managing this situation is Frédéric Vasseur and, anyway, we almost never hear him on the radio,” he concluded.
