Jonathan Wheatley made his first appearance in the Formula 1 paddock since leaving the Audi leadership, making an unexpected presence at the Dutch GP last weekend.

The executive took on his first leadership role with Audi, formerly Sauber, in 2025 after a long period as sporting director at Red Bull.
It so happened that suddenly this past year, at the Chinese GP, he immediately announced his departure from the role due to personal reasons never clarified. Since then, he has stayed away from F1.

But that ended at the Zandvoort round, as he was present in the paddock during the weekend. Wheatley was photographed at the circuit in what is believed to be his first visit to the category since his farewell.
Jonathan was spotted entering Alpine’s hospitality in the Netherlands. According to information from PlanetF1.com, it is believed that the presence was to visit his friend and former Benetton/Renault colleague Steve Nielsen, who returned to Enstone as director last year.
