Former Formula 1 driver Jean Alesi considered Lewis Hamilton’s attitude during the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix inappropriate. The former Ferrari driver questioned the tone of the complaints made by the seven-time world champion on the radio and in interviews after the race at the Zandvoort Circuit.

The most tense moment happened when Hamilton was behind Leclerc. At that moment, the Briton had an advantage and, in an attempt to reach the podium, asked Ferrari to instruct his teammate to let him pass so as not to harm his race. However, Leclerc was called to the pits several laps later. The decision provoked a reaction from Hamilton over the team radio: “Great way to lose time, guys. Good job.”
“I found Hamilton’s complaints on the radio and in post-race interviews out of place,” Alesi told Corriere della Sera. “It is true that Charles did not give way immediately, but I don’t think that was the reason he lost the podium.”

The former driver also acknowledged Hamilton’s strong personality but emphasized that the relationship with Ferrari requires consideration for the team’s own identity: “Lewis has a strong personality; he is an asset, but demands a certain respect. I would remind all of us – and him too – that Ferrari is Ferrari. It deserves respect. Even when it does not immediately meet his requests,” he concluded.
