Valtteri Bottas admitted that Graeme Lowdon’s departure from the leadership of Cadillac in the middle of the Formula 1 season came as a surprise, but he understood the motivation behind it.

The paddock was caught off guard by the news that the championship newcomer dismissed its former team principal to bring in Marcin Budkowski, former Alpine executive.
When the Finn spoke about Lowdon, he said that “he did a great job putting the team together and preparing it to be on the grid for the first race. I tip my hat to him for that.”

Regarding the replacement, he acknowledged it came unexpectedly. “I think a big change like this, in the middle of the season, always causes an initial surprise. But, anyway, after talking with Dan (Towriss, CEO) and other people, all the reasons for this change were explained to me, and I respect that. I think if we keep everything as it is, we will never evolve; so, we are going to change some things.”
Then, after the response and choice of words, GPblog asked if Bottas did not agree with the decision. “I respect that. I think, as with any change, time will always tell, you know, what is good and what is bad. So, I can’t predict the future,” he concluded.
