The Monegasque started third in Zandvoort. For much of the race he was chasing Lando Norris and near the end, he managed to make the move to take second place and stayed there.

“Whenever you are the only one doing something, you are either very right or very wrong [starting on soft tires]. But it was good; that means we did our homework well in TL1,” he said.

“I knew Lando didn’t have much electric power available on the main straight, so I needed to make the most of that. But still, we reached the braking point at the same time, so it was difficult,” he continued.

“The car feels good, so it’s good to start the second half of the season like this,” he concluded.
